Johnathon Beach

Quiet, shy, ambitious, goal oriented, and successful are the words I use to describe Johnathon. However, now I get to add Graduate! John signed on for Empower Program in October of 2006. He completed Empower workshops and received certificates for all. With the support of his family, John expressed the desire for the motivation to complete his GED. John knew just how important this would be for him. His goal is to get the GED and then pursue the education required to advance to a state university in Redding. John wants to be a Math Teacher one day. During preparation for the GED tests he used Building K computer lab to prepare on Plato. He used the Plato lab for the 3 weeks. In that time Johnathon logged over 100 hours. I then sent him over to put in some time with Ed Souza at WorkNet. From there Johnathon was enrolled in Merced County Adult School to take the GED classes. With in a few months Johnathon studied and passed all five tests to get the GED. He had all 5 tests to pass., which he did. Johnathon is now doing work experience at Big Lots, learning the correct procedure for stocking shelves, and the importance of being a good employee.

I believe Johnathon will continue to be a ‘Success Story”.
