Being raised by my single working grandmother, opportunities for success seemed at times few and hard to find. I have always been determined to make something of myself and not settle for being just another unemployed/uneducated individual for statistics. At a point in my life I knew that I was destined for great things, but I just didn't know where to turn for the motivational boost and support that I needed.

The EMPOWER Program served as that boost and the staff at the Employment Development Department/EMPOWER Program provided support and motivation. Through the program I was able to realize my optimal potential and worth in the adult working world.

The EMPOWER Program gave me access to computers and essential occupational training that has many times proven to be beneficial in all aspects of my life. The advisor and peer mentors understand the hardships of being a young mother trying to make it in the world.

The program covered the fees for me to attend school and become a certified Pharmacy Technician, in which I am proud to say I am today. I feel the up most gratitude to the EMPOWER Program and all of the people that contributed their time and efforts to helping, teaching, challenging and bettering the lives of so many people like me!!
